RUTHERFORD Cable
Speaker Details and Guidelines
RUTHERFORD Cable ("Cable”) is pleased that you have agreed to be one of our monthly Empowerment Gathering keynote speakers. To help facilitate your speaking opportunity, the following guidelines are provided for your presentation:
Speaker Coordinator:
All communications with RUTHERFORD Cable will be managed by our Speaker Coordinator. The Speaker Coordinator will contact you and will forward the meeting announcement and other promotional material to you.
Empowerment Gathering Details:
● Cable Empowerment Gathering begins at 7:30 a.m. at The View at the Fountains of Gateway located at 1500 Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
● Plenty of free parking is available at the Fountains.
● You should plan to arrive by 7 a.m. for the presentation setup.
Presentation Topics:
● Cable consists of a diverse membership of women and a few brave men of various ages and professional experience. Presentations and messages should be applicable and useful to the broad spectrum of our members (considering the members’ diverse backgrounds). Typical empowerment gathering attendance is between 80-120 members and guests.
● As our speaker, your focus should be on the agreed upon topic. Presentations should not be viewed as a sales opportunity for you, your business, or your employer.
● Rutherford Cable is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As such all speakers are asked to refrain from overt religious or political statements, political campaigning, statements of position on political issues, inappropriate or harsh language, or pointed humor that disparages the rightful dignity and social equity of any individual or group.
● Cable members are interested in receiving specific applications, action items, next steps and key takeaways from the presentation. Members appreciate motivational personal anecdotes and “real-life” success stories.
● You are encouraged to have at least a few slides to focus your presentation and to provide a handout or takeaway for members. Please provide your presentation materials one week prior to the meeting so we can include them in the master presentation material for the meeting. Our screens are set up in 4:3 and presentations should be saved so that fonts and styles, and such will not change when added to our master presentation.
Presentation Guidelines:
● Presentations should last approximately 25 minutes, with an additional five minutes for audience questions and answers (i.e., approximately 30 minutes in total).
● Cable can accommodate a variety of audio-visual requirements. Speaker preference may be requested for the following items:
○ Microphone (e.g., podium, handheld or lapel)
○ Presentation location (e.g., behind podium or in front of the head table)
○ Slide deck (screens, projector and computer are provided)
○ Videos or other audiovisual needs
Please Note: Though video can be added to a presentation, specific challenges include the following:
● All videos must be downloaded to the Cable laptop, if possible.
● In the past, Cable has experienced issues with live streaming videos over the provided Wi-Fi network, e.g., on YouTube commercials will
precede the video after the first viewing.
● Final details of your presentation will be confirmed by the Speaker Liaison at least one month before the scheduled meeting.
● Please provide the slide deck files one week prior to the meeting if possible.
Speaker Deliverables:
● Please provide the presentation abstract (including 2-4 takeaways tied to our mission of women’s professional advancement), biography (175 words or less) and current headshot (high resolution/full color) for press releases, social media, and printed program at least 60 days before the presentation date. Please submit these materials to the Speaker Coordinator via the following link:

● We hope you will invite guests to this event. Cable will cover the cost for one guest. Additional guests will be charged $25 at the meeting. Please provide the name of all guests to the Speaker Coordinator. Guests will be given reserved seating near the front of the room, but will not be able to sit with the speaker at the president’s table.
Honorarium:
● A $200 speaker honorarium will be provided.
● You should provide the recipient information for the honorarium to the Speaker Coordinator at least one week before the Empowerment Gathering.
Hotel:
● Cable will provide hotel accommodations for you on the evening before the Empowerment Gathering. Given the challenging traffic situation in Middle Tennessee, you may wish to accept the accommodations to avoid weather or traffic related delays.
